Are College Athletes Employees?

Very interesting piece in the New York Times today discussing the business of college athletics and whether college athletes should be considered “employees” under federal labor law. There is currently a case pending before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that is analyzing the issue. The case will have wide-ranging implications for college athletics and possibly the entire sports amateurism model.
